Scope of this notice
This notice covers browsing the new website, its public project, funding opportunity and news archives, and contacts initiated through the published contact details. The app, membership and cooperation/PIF forms and other dedicated forms have specific notices available in their respective services. Browsing does not subscribe you to a mailing list or create membership.
Data processed
Navigation and security data: IP address, request date and time, addresses of requested resources, essential browser and device information, technical outcomes and records needed to deliver and protect the service. Hosting and content delivery infrastructure may process these data.
Information provided voluntarily: name, contact details, organisation, position and the content of messages sent by email, telephone or WhatsApp. Do not send health information, identity documents or personal data unnecessary for your enquiry.
Device preferences: closing the invitation to download the app and, only if expressly requested, remembering not to show it for 30 days. Details are in the cookie notice: cookies.html.
Published institutional content: names, positions, professional contact details, images and activity information concerning board members, staff and people involved in initiatives. Data may be supplied by those individuals, their organisations or relevant institutional communications and materials.
Archive searches are processed in your browser. Search terms may appear in the page address and, when that address is requested from the server, in technical logs. Please avoid entering personal information in search fields.
Purposes and legal bases
Data are used for the following purposes, limited to what each purpose requires.

How data are processed and recipients
Data are processed electronically and, for handling contacts, through organisational procedures, with access restricted to authorised people and measures appropriate to the purposes. Focus Europe does not use the website for advertising profiling or solely automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects on individuals.
Wix.com Ltd. and the infrastructure used by the platform deliver the website and some images. Wix’s Data Processing Agreement applies to visitor data processed on Focus Europe’s behalf: https://www.wix.com/about/privacy-dpa-users. Technical providers may act as processors or sub-processors according to the services actually provided.
Public project and funding opportunity archives are updated through Focus Europe services hosted by Netsons S.r.l. Some images may also be loaded from that infrastructure. These requests may disclose technical connection data to the provider; they do not access restricted management systems or transmit user credentials. Netsons documents: https://www.netsons.com/contratti.
Data may also be received by people handling enquiries, support and communication providers for their assigned activities, and authorities where required by law. Privately supplied contact details are not published. This is separate from the institutional content publication described above.
Processing locations and transfers
Using Wix involves processing outside the European Economic Area. Its DPA identifies an initial transfer to Wix.com Ltd. in Israel under the EU adequacy decision; onward transfers rely on adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses or other applicable Article 46 safeguards. The current sub-processor list is available at https://support.wix.com/en/article/list-of-wixs-sub-processors.
Netsons states that data stored on its hosting systems are kept in Italy. This does not mean that all processing for the Wix website takes place in the European Union. Information about relevant safeguards, and a copy of them, may be requested from privacy@focuseurope.org.
Retention
Enquiry data are retained to handle the request and necessary clarification until the relevant activity is closed. If a contact develops into a membership, project or contractual relationship, the periods and notices applicable to that relationship apply. Information no longer needed is erased or anonymised, subject to retention obligations or documented needs to protect legal rights.
For technical data managed by the platforms, retention is determined by service delivery, security, misuse prevention, incident handling and applicable obligations. Wix describes retention criteria in its notice and DPA; no single numerical period applies to the entire website. Any retention for disputes is limited to relevant data and the time needed to handle them.
Professional information is reviewed against current roles. News and materials may remain in the archive for their information and documentary value, subject to reviews of relevance, accuracy and individual rights.
The optional app notice preference lasts no longer than 30 days; ordinary closure is remembered during the browser tab session. Details and the control for removing the preference are at cookies.html#preferences.
Links and separate services
Social icons, WhatsApp, app stores and links to project websites open separate services. Published news and their images load from Wix. Articles containing external video or embedded content display a separate “Load multimedia content” control before that content is loaded. Selecting it connects the browser to the relevant providers; their privacy notices also apply. Ordinary article reading remains available without loading external media.
Before submitting data through membership, PIF, newsletter or other dedicated forms, read the notice provided in that form. This page does not replace those notices or alter consent already given.
Your choice to provide data
You can browse without registering or becoming a member. Necessary technical data enable page delivery; blocking them through your browser may limit some functions. Providing information for an enquiry is voluntary, but a reply may be impossible without sufficient details or a way to contact you. Remembering the app notice preference for 30 days is optional and does not affect access.
Rights and requests
Where provided by the GDPR, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction and data portability. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your particular situation. Consent, where used, may be withdrawn at any time without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.
Send requests to privacy@focuseurope.org or the controller’s registered office. Only identification checks necessary to handle the request may be requested. A response is provided within one month, subject to GDPR-permitted extensions communicated to you. You may complain to the Italian data protection authority, https://www.garanteprivacy.it, or the competent supervisory authority without first contacting Focus Europe.
Updates and cookies
This notice is updated when relevant services or processing change. Information about cookies, browser storage and the app preference is available at cookies.html.
