Focus Europe ETS reports progress on the “Territori Uniti 2025” project, the international cooperation initiative co-funded by the Autonomous Region of Sardinia (RAS) under the 2025 call pursuant to Regional Law 19/96.

The project, which aims to strengthen centres for people with disabilities in Palestinian municipalities, has reached an important milestone: the purchase of the first of the three minivans planned in the action programme has been completed. These vehicles will be essential to ensure mobility and daily access to the centres for young people with disabilities in Yatta, Idhna and Samou, removing logistical barriers and promoting social inclusion.

The international partnership and training activities

The initiative is the result of institutional cooperation led by the Municipality of Quartu Sant’Elena, in close collaboration with the participating Palestinian local authorities of Yatta, Idhna and Samou and the SpazioAcca Association.

Alongside the provision of equipment, “Territori Uniti 2025” focuses on exchanging expertise: the SpazioAcca APS Association, responsible for training activities, will host 9 Palestinian staff members from centres for people with disabilities from 29 October to 7 November. They will travel on a training mission to take part in a professional development programme on assistance and care methods in their home territories. In this context, Focus Europe ETS acts as the technical organisation, providing management support to the Municipality of Quartu Sant’Elena in coordinating the international partnership.

The “Note e Solidarietà” concert series

The project has also been co-funded through the proceeds of “Note e Solidarietà”, a series of fundraising concerts held in Quartu Sant’Elena.

The initiative, organised by SpazioAcca APS with the patronage of the Municipality of Quartu Sant’Elena, involved the active participation of a large part of the local community. The events were made possible by the support of numerous artists, who placed their music at the service of the project’s aims.

Commenting on the objectives achieved, Giuseppe Cappai says:

Among the many projects that Focus Europe ETS carries out alongside local authorities, this one is particularly close to my heart, as I have had the opportunity to visit the centres in the Hebron Governorate, Palestine, in person. Achieving tangible results in such complex circumstances can never be taken for granted and confirms the great value of our entire team.

We will continue to keep you informed about the next developments in “Territori Uniti 2025” and future cooperation activities between Sardinia and other territories promoted and supported by Focus Europe ETS.
