From 7 to 9 November 2026, Ħal Għargħur, Malta, will host a delegation from the Municipality of Tratalias, Sardinia, as part of the European RE-BUILD EU project. The three-day visit will bring the communities together through cultural heritage and traditions, promoting mutual understanding and active European citizenship.

Co-funded by the European Union under the CERV – Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values programme, the town twinning continues the cooperation between Għargħur Local Council, as lead partner, and the Municipality of Tratalias, as the Italian partner.

Welcoming the delegation on Saturday 7 November

The Mayor and Local Council of Ħal Għargħur invite the whole community to the welcome ceremony on Saturday 7 November at 16:00, in the hall of the Socjeta Filarmonika San Bartilmew, Ħal Għargħur.

During the ceremony, representatives of both municipalities will introduce the culture and history of their towns, sharing traditions and stories that shape their communities. The gathering will provide an opportunity to explore local identities and build new connections between citizens.

A show will follow at 19:30 at the Parish Centre in Triq EM Perren. The organisers welcome the whole community to join them in giving the visitors from Tratalias a warm reception.

Cultural heritage, unity and inclusion

The event poster highlights the theme “Diversity of Cultural Heritage: Unity and Inclusivity”, presenting cultural diversity as an opportunity for connection and inclusion. The exchange between these two Mediterranean communities places local roots within a shared European journey.

Focus Europe and cooperation between local communities

This initiative forms part of Focus Europe ETS’s commitment to dialogue between local authorities and the development of European partnerships. The twinning between Tratalias and Ħal Għargħur offers an opportunity to turn institutional cooperation into encounters between people, associations and communities.

Through its network, Focus Europe promotes project development, training and cooperation as ways to bring Europe closer to local communities and support lasting relationships.
