On 20 October, the European Commission highlighted European Cybersecurity Month, a campaign involving citizens and organisations in preventing online risks through events, training and webinars.
The Commission’s message focuses on phishing: deceptive messages that impersonate trusted contacts to obtain passwords or other confidential information. Careful credential management, regular backups and awareness of manipulation techniques are among the practices it recommends.
Training matters for public administrations
In an article published on 30 September, ENISA highlighted the role of workforce skills. According to the Eurobarometer cited by the Agency, 74% of surveyed employees had received suspicious emails, messages or links at work, while 85% were interested in improving their skills.
A local perspective
For municipalities, schools and local organisations, these findings provide a starting point for strengthening digital education and internal reporting procedures. From Focus Europe ETS’s perspective, supporting digital transformation also means helping communities use online services with greater awareness.
